How Did I Discover It?

A few months before the college entrance exam, I needed to migrate my website, so I moved my Mix Space to a new server. It happened to be March, and the free OpenClaw installation at Tencent Tower in Shenzhen was all the rage. I went to try it out that weekend, and before I knew it, I was hooked—I sank a lot of time into it. Luckily, with it, everything became much more convenient. But after the migration, I found that the Vercel frontend couldn't recognize MixSpace. What was going on? I went to visit the Mix Space author's blog. His name is easy to remember—innei. I opened his blog, and the first thing that caught my eye was the brand-new theme—Yohaku. The design was clean and efficient. The standout feature was literally called "Yohaku." It left a deep impression on me. I've listened to 25時's 「余花にみとれて」. The image of Yoka (余花) in Japanese means something left behind, but the flowers haven't fully scattered. It leaves you with thoughts that are hard to shake. I've always loved the lyrics of that song. So the moment I saw this blog, I knew I wanted it.

I Hit Some Snags.

But when I clicked into innei's GitHub, I realized this wasn't going to be simple at all.

First, Yohaku is closed-source. Second, the donation price was $10 per month. That put me in a bind. I had Hermes Agent draft an email for me, but I kept putting off sending it to innei. It wasn't until after the exam that I was surprised to find the monthly subscription on GitHub had moved to the One Time tier, and the price had been updated from

10 to

15. But at least that made things much easier. A one-time donation of about 100 RMB, and I got the blog.

Features and Design

First off, the design is still breathtaking. And it's not just about the static look—it's in the subtle micro-interactions. Elegant glows pair with non-linear animations, and these animations aren't just for non-interactive elements like the background. Hover over the top bar, and you'll notice that each menu item doesn't just correspond to a subpage under that category—each one has its own layout tailored to the section.

The animations all revolve around elegance and efficiency. And that elegance is woven into every detail. Even though every page and component serves a different function, you'll find these components are so harmonious—no visual clutter—so reading the blog no longer feels like a world cut off from reality, but rather like paper brought onto the screen. It doesn't redefine the essence of reading; it perfectly transfers that essence onto the screen.

Bugs in the Source Code

After all, this is a solo developer's work, so there are still a few bugs. I've already fixed them and reported them to innei, but I can't be bothered to reinstall it to check if they've been patched. At first, out of all the articles, only one was translated correctly; the rest failed. So I deleted that article and enabled full translation. But then I found that no article was being translated successfully. I had the agent dig into MixSpace's source code and found these lines:

This shows the translation component isn't fully polished and can't trigger translations properly—at least the working version hasn't been pushed to GitHub. innei also said it's already running, so it might be fixed by now.

Next, something that seems intentional: when the blog language is set to Traditional Chinese, only Simplified Chinese is displayed. The code explicitly states that when the language is Traditional Chinese, it pulls the Simplified Chinese text rather than translating separately. So even if I set it to translate to zhtw in the backend, it only exists in the database and can't be read by the frontend. But since Yohaku's frontend is closed-source, I can't mess with it. I only touched MixSpace's backend, removing that mapping, so now when the global language is Traditional Chinese, the articles can finally display in Traditional Chinese. However, the language switcher on the frontend still doesn't respond when you click "正體中文." So there are still some bugs—depends on whether you care about Traditional Chinese translations. (Things have changed now. I had AI help me fix this, but it pulled the latest source code and removed the language selector on the article page. Now I can only change the global display language. Fortunately, I've already completed the fix, and at this point, even on innei's own site, switching the global language to Traditional Chinese doesn't take effect—though as I mentioned, this might be intentional...)

As of Today

It's June 22, 2026, more than ten days since the exam ended, and more than ten days since I got this blog. Yohaku has made me fall in love with the process of typing away in the library. It's made me fall in love with the process of writing long-form text. Compared to Moments on WeChat or Bilibili posts, it feels more like a quiet, silent, private space.
